The FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Anyone who wants financial aid for college will need to fill out the FAFSA. The application is used to determine the dollar amount you or your family will be expected to contribute towards college. All federal grant and loan awards are determined by the FAFSA, and nearly all colleges use the FAFSA as the basis for their own financial aid awards.
Though it sounds overwhelming, filling one out isn’t as difficult as it seems. We have provided some helpful videos to assist you with completing your FAFSA below (Southern Crescent Technical College’s School Code: 005621):

Below are several SCTC videos we hope will help dispel myths about completing the FAFSA:
Myth: The FAFSA is too hard to fill out.
Myth: I already completed the FAFSA so I do not need to complete it again.
Myth: My ethnicity, gender, or age makes me ineligible for financial aid.
Myth: My grades are not good enough for me to get financial aid.
Myth: My family makes too much money for me to qualify for financial aid.
Myth: I support myself so I do not need to include my parent’s information on the FAFSA.
Don’t forget: Students will need to complete a new FAFSA each year. The amount and types of aid awarded may vary from year to year. But you’ll never know unless you try.
