Former Southern Crescent Technical College President, current SCTC Foundation Trustee, and long-time College supporter Dr. Randall Peters was recently named the Griffin Exchange Club’s 2024 Man of the Year.  As he accepted the award, Dr. Peters stated, “This is probably the biggest honor that I will ever receive in my life.  I stand here on behalf of so many others who have worked tirelessly for this community.  Thank you for this enormous honor.  I may never see the likes of this type of recognition again in my lifetime and I am most appreciative to receive this award.”

Peters was President of Southern Crescent Technical College from 2010 – 2016 and worked diligently to move the college forward following the merger between Griffin Technical College and Flint River Technical College in Thomaston.  In addition to his long-term commitment to SCTC, Peters has been active in the Griffin Spalding Chamber of Commerce, the United Way, the Griffin Rotary Club, and the Griffin/Spalding Airport Authority.

Exchange Club President Matt Middleton stated, “Dr. Peters’ commitment to improving the lives of those around him, his tireless work to bring about positive change, and his unwavering belief in the power of the community have set him apart as a true leader and role model.”

The Griffin Exchange Club’s Man of the Year Award is a prestigious honor reserved for individuals who have demonstrated remarkable dedication, compassion, and service to the community.   According to SCTC President Dr. Irvin Clark, “Dr. Randy Peters has done all of that and more.  He made a significant impact on the College as a former President, and that impact will continue to be felt by current and future students.  He has helped our students achieve their personal and professional goals through his commitment to the mission and vision of the College.  Being named the Griffin Exchange Club’s Man of the Year is such a deserving honor to recognize his outstanding accomplishments to the College and the community.”
