Southern Crescent Technical College (SCTC) is proud to announce that it has been awarded a $450,000 Nursing Education Program Expansion Grant by the Georgia Board of Health Care Workforce. This critical funding will establish state-of-the-art nursing labs at SCTC’s new locations in Butts and Jasper Counties, further expanding access to healthcare education across rural Georgia.
This investment will directly address the healthcare workforce shortages by providing high-quality, hands-on training environments for future nurses. The grant will fund the procurement of essential patient care equipment, including hospital beds, IV pumps, medication administration systems, diagnostic tools, and ergonomic classroom furniture with modern technology infrastructure.
“We are honored to receive this funding to strengthen our commitment to meeting Georgia’s healthcare needs,” said Dr. Irvin T. Clark, President of Southern Crescent Technical College. “Workforce development in rural Georgia is not just about education—it’s about creating sustainable communities, supporting local hospitals, and ensuring families have access to quality care. This grant allows us to deliver on that mission and build a healthier future for all.”
The new labs will support the expansion of SCTC’s LPN/Paramedic to RN Bridge program and traditional nursing education programs, increasing capacity and encouraging students to serve in Georgia’s most underserved areas.
This grant reflects SCTC’s ongoing dedication to equity, access, and excellence in technical education, reinforcing the College’s role as a key contributor to the healthcare pipeline in the state.
