SCTC Child Care Business and Entrepreneurship Lab Launching June 2025

Date Posted: January 29, 2025

Aspiring childcare entrepreneurs are invited to join the Southern Crescent Technical College (SCTC) Child Care Business and Entrepreneurship Lab, a transformative six-month cohort-based program starting in June 2025. This intensive program equips participants with the tools, knowledge, and resources needed to launch a high-quality childcare business successfully.

Offering a comprehensive blueprint for building financially viable businesses, the program guides participants through the licensing process and connects them to potential startup capital. Participants can collaborate with peers, earn industry-recognized credentials, and develop sustainable business models that support families and create jobs in their communities.

Participants will be enrolled in Southern Crescent Technical College’s Early Childhood Education Technical Certificate program. A business coach will be available to the cohort for personalized guidance in launching a childcare business.  Once participants complete the program, they will receive a one-year membership to their local Chamber of Commerce to expand their professional connections and will have the opportunity to compete for $5,000 in startup funding to help launch their business.

SCTC President, Dr. Irvin Clark stated, “The Child Care Business and Entrepreneurship Lab is a collaborative project between our small business entrepreneurship centers and our credit-seeking programs at Southern Crescent Technical College.  The two will combine to serve our communities in bridging a need in childcare with leaders in our community. We are excited to provide Early Childhood Education skills along with entrepreneurship guidance to those that may have not known how to get started in the process of opening a childcare business.”

Interested individuals must attend an information session. Southern Crescent Technical College has scheduled several sessions at 6pm on February 24 at our SCTC Butts County Center, February 25 at our Thomaston Campus, or February 26 at our Henry County Center.  Registration is required and can be found at www.sctech.edu/ChildcareSBEC

Interested individuals are welcome to contact Melissa Jackson, Executive Director of Economic Development, at childcarebusinesslab@sctech.edu.
