SCTC Expands Offerings in Henry County

Date Posted: July 8, 2024

In an outreach effort to provide a convenient weekend option for those interested in advancing their education, Southern Crescent Technical College (SCTC) has partnered with two community and faith-based partners in Henry County to offer courses at their location. Global Impact Christian Ministries and Stockbridge Community Church will each begin offering SCTC courses for the 2024 Fall Semester.

Through this partnership, classes will be offered in a hybrid format, meaning classes will be held both in-person on Sunday mornings and online. For the upcoming Fall Semester beginning on August 12, Global Impact Christian Ministries will offer Medical Terminology, Principles of Management, and Intro to Early Childhood Care/Education and Stockbridge Community Church will offer Principles of Management. Each of these individual courses are part of a pathway to earn a Technical Certificate of Credit from Southern Crescent Technical College. Plans are to expand offerings in the near future, including the addition of General Core courses.

SCTC President Dr. Irvin Clark recently said, “This is another step in our plan to meet our students where they are by providing them with more convenient access to higher education. By offering these courses online and on Sunday mornings before their regular church services, we are able to overcome barriers with scheduling and open the door to opportunities that did not previously exist. We are excited about this new initiative and look forward to assisting students as they pursue their educational goals.”

Students at the SCTC Henry County Center will also have access to the new Entrepreneurship Center, where individuals can bridge the gap between technical education and entrepreneurship. With a state-of-the-art podcast room, access to cutting edge resources, comprehensive business start-up support, and a community-centric approach, the Entrepreneurship Center will assist individuals as they embark on a transformative journey toward entrepreneurial success.

Interested individuals may attend SCTC’s Registration One Stop Shop for these and other classes on July 11, 2024 from 5 – 7 pm at the SCTC Henry County Center located at 300 Lakemont Drive just outside the square in McDonough. These classes are 16 weeks in length and are open to anyone in the community.
