The Southern Crescent Technical College Foundation awarded 52 scholarships totaling $17,560 for students enrolled in the College for 2022 Spring Semester.
Of those, the Foundation awarded 31 Internal Tiger Campaign scholarships totaling $9,800. Internal scholarships are funded through contributions from the SCTC faculty and staff primarily through monthly payroll deductions to the Internal Fundraising Campaign. In addition, the Foundation awarded 21 external scholarships totaling $7,760. External scholarships are funded through contributions from business partners, foundations and generous donors within our service community as well as SCTC faculty and staff for program-specific scholarships not included in the Internal Tiger Campaign.

The Bill Walden Memorial Textbook and Toolbox Scholarship is a $250 scholarship established in memory of former SCTC Business Management instructor Bill Walden for his commitment and contributions to the College. The Foundation awarded ten $250 scholarships for a total of $2,500. Those receiving the scholarship for 2022 Spring Semester are:

- Jessenia Carbajal – Forensic Science Technology – Fayette County
- Jonathan Cox – Culinary Arts – Butts County

The High School-to-College Textbook and Toolbox Scholarship is a $300 textbook & toolbox scholarship awarded to a recent high school graduate (graduated within the last 24 months) who is enrolled at Southern Crescent Technical College. The Foundation awarded two $300 scholarships for a total of $600. Those receiving the scholarship for 2022 Spring Semester are:
- Sophia Germann – Cosmetology – Fayette County
- Joshua Simmons – Business Administrative Technology – Fayette County
The John Bradley Memorial Textbook and Toolbox Scholarship is a $250 scholarship established in memory of John Bradley, former Automotive Collision and Repair instructor at the College who died of cancer in 2006. The Foundation awarded eight $250 scholarships for a total of $2000. Those receiving the scholarship for 2022 Spring Semester are:

The “Make a Difference” Tuition Scholarship is a $900 tuition scholarship to a student who is not eligible for the HOPE Grant/Scholarship, WIOA and/or the PELL Grant and/or any other financial aid. The “Make a Difference” Tuition Scholarship is named in honor of the winning team for the Internal Tiger Campaign for Southern Crescent Technical College. The Foundation awarded three $900 scholarships for a total of $2,700. Those receiving the scholarship for 2022 Spring Semester are:

- Hannah Staley – Radiologic Technology – Henry County
- Christopher Williamson – Nursing – Meriwether County
The Trevor Alexander Memorial Tuition Scholarship is a $250 tuition scholarship to a student who is eligible for the HOPE Grant/Scholarship but is not eligible for the PELL Grant. The scholarship was established in memory of Trevor Alexander, an Assessment Specialist at the College who died of cancer in August 2013. The Foundation awarded eight $250 scholarships for a total of $2000. Those receiving the scholarship for 2022 Spring Semester are:

Congratulations to the following students who were awarded External scholarships:
The Becky Parris Rector Nursing Scholarship is a $300 Tuition scholarship for a Nursing student that is a single parent. Becky Parris Rector earned her ADN from a technical college while raising two children under the age of six at the same time. She sacrificed so much to stay in school while caring for her children and working part-time to make ends meet. Her degree enabled her to continually lift her family up and support them her entire career. The Foundation awarded one $300 scholarship for 2022 Spring Semester to:
- Marissa Scoby – Nursing – Clayton County
The “Gateway to Hope Scholarship” is a $240 scholarship awarded to a minority nursing student showing a financial need. The scholarship is to cover the cost of the NCLEX-RN exam and license fee and will be awarded to a student in his or her final semester of the ASN program. The “Gateway to Hope Scholarship” is established by Dr. Gayla Hope Love to pay-it-forward. Dr. Love understands how the power of education can change the life of a minority nursing student and this is her way of supporting the next generation of nurses. The Foundation awarded four $240 scholarships for a total of $960 for 2022 Spring Semester to:
- Amarachi Ibekwe – Nursing – Clayton County
- Marissa Scoby – Nursing – Clayton County
- Tameisha Spradley – Health Care Management – Henry County
- Jameria Walker- Nursing – Baldwin County
The Justin Peeples Memorial CIS Scholarship is a $250 textbook and toolbox scholarship awarded to a student in the Computer Information Systems program. The scholarship was established in memory of Justin Peeples, a Computer Network Specialist student at the College. Justin died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in 2011. The Foundation awarded one $250 scholarship for 2022 Spring Semester to:
- Demiyah Whitney – Forensic Science – Clayton County
The Georgia Power Scholarship is a $250 textbook and toolbox scholarship funded by the Georgia Power Company for the purchase of program-required tools, uniforms and/or equipment. The Foundation awarded two $250 scholarships for a total of $500. Those receiving the scholarship for 2022 Spring Semester are:

- Tuesday Manion – Criminal Justice – Henry County
The Griffin Utility Club RN Textbook and Toolbox Scholarship is a $250 textbook and toolbox scholarship for a female student residing in Spalding County in the Nursing program. The scholarship is for the purchase of program-required textbook and tools, uniforms, equipment, and/or supplies. The Foundation awarded one $250 scholarship for 2022 Spring Semester to:
- Erin Pybus – Nursing – Spalding County
The Lespedeza Fund Scholarship – honors the memory of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Allen and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Johnson and is a $1,000 tuition, textbook and toolbox need-based scholarship awarded to a first-generation student (defined as a student whose parent(s)/legal guardian(s) have not completed a degree or any education beyond high school/first in their family to attend college to attain a certificate, diploma or degree) enrolled in one of the following programs: Allied Health, Business Technology, Criminal Justice, Industrial Systems Technology, and Logistics and Supply Chain Management. The Foundation awarded three $1,000 scholarships for a total of $3,000. Those receiving the scholarship for 2022 Spring Semester are:

- Lisa Jordan – Radiological Technology – Upson County
- Jazmin Sosa – Radiological Technology – Spalding County
The Paramedicine Tuition Scholarship is a $550 tuition scholarship for a student in a Paramedicine Program. Funds were donated by NISOD (the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development) to honor a student of SCTC instructor James Anderson, who won a NISOD essay contest. The Foundation awarded one $550 scholarship for 2022 Spring Semester to:

The Walker Cook Memorial Tuition Scholarship is a $250 tuition scholarship established in memory of Walker Cook who passed away in 2017. Walker was a former Griffin resident and husband of Barbara Jo Cook, V.P. for Advancement at SCTC. He was a life-long educator who believed education improved the quality of life for individuals and communities. The Foundation awarded one $250 scholarship for 2022 Spring Semester to:
- DeKendrick Bullie – Health Care Management – Henry County
The Debbie Dawson Memorial Scholarship is a $200 award for a senior Radiologic Technology student, who does not qualify for WIOA. The scholarship was established in memory of Deborah R. Dawson who passed away in 2020 after 24 years of teaching and leading the Radiologic Technology Program at SCTC. The award will be used to cover the expense of applying to the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) national registration. The Foundation awarded two $225 scholarships for a total of $450. Those receiving the scholarship for 2022 Spring Semester are:

The Susan Elizabeth Pruett Memorial Accounting Textbook & Toolbox is a $250 scholarship for the purchase of program-required textbooks, tools, uniforms, equipment, and/or supplies. This scholarship is for students in the Accounting program. It was established in memory of Susan Elizabeth Pruett by Reshann Pruett Adams, SCTC Foundation Trustee. The Foundation awarded one $250 scholarship for Spring 2022 Semester to:
- Joshua Simmons – Business Administrative Technology – Fayette County
The Upson EMC Foundation Tuition Scholarship is a $250 tuition scholarship. Students must be a Georgia resident and must live in one of the six counties Upson EMC serves: Crawford, Pike, Meriwether, Talbot, Taylor and Upson. The Foundation awarded four $250 scholarships for a total of $1,000 for 2022 Spring Semester to:
- Abigail Lee – Phlebotomy – Pike County
- Ally Payne – Radiologic Technology – Pike County
- Dallin Reeve – Electrical Systems & Air Conditioning – Meriwether County
- Erin Severs – Health Care Management – Pike County
