Southern Crescent Technical College (SCTC) is excited to announce plans to kick-off the 2024 Summer Discovery Series with Robotics and Automation Boot Camps utilizing the Industrial Systems Technology Mobile Training Lab. The first of these camps will be held June 25-27, 2024, at J.P. Moseley Park in Stockbridge, Georgia from 9:00 am – 9:45 am and again from 5:00 pm – 5:45 pm each day. The Summer Discovery Series Boot Camps are offered free of charge for participants.
SCTC’s Summer Discovery Series Boot Camps are designed to introduce participants to the high-demand industry sector of Robotics, Automation, Industrial Systems and Advanced Manufacturing and assist them with an understanding of various career opportunities available in this field. Participants will be introduced to PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and TMS (Sorting and Inventory Control Systems) used in the shipping and handling industry. Additionally, they will learn troubleshooting, systems programming, and lab safety. Emphasis will be placed on educational opportunities available at Southern Crescent Technical College including the SCTC Henry County Center located in McDonough.
Participants aged 15 and older may attend one session and will receive a certificate of completion which allows them to have their application for admission to Southern Crescent Technical College waived.
SCTC President Dr. Irvin Clark said, “The Summer Discovery Series is the perfect opportunity for anyone who has an interest in a STEM career, particularly in the areas of Robotics and Automation, to receive a crash course through these interactive camps. We are thrilled to be able to bring this opportunity directly to the community as we promote STEM career pathways at Southern Crescent Technical College. With multiple career opportunities in the immediate area, the field of Advanced Manufacturing including Robotics and Automation is growing rapidly and SCTC graduates of this program are in high demand and well compensated.”
The 2024 Summer Discovery Series is currently making plans to host additional Robotics and Automation Boot Camps in Butts, Spalding, and Upson counties in July.
