Southern Crescent Technical College is delighted to announce the promotion of Ms. Amy Adams to the position of Dean of Nursing and Connie Allen Kendrick Endowed Chair in Teaching and Workforce Development for Nursing. Ms. Adams will officially begin her new role on August 15th, overseeing the Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) Program, LPN/Paramedic to RN Bridge Program, Practical Nursing (PN) Program, and Certified Nurse Aide (CNA)/Patient Care Assistant (PCA) Program.
As the Dean of Nursing and Endowed Chair, Ms. Adams will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the academic unit of Nursing programs. In her role as the Connie Allen Kendrick Endowed Chair in Teaching and Workforce Development for Nursing, Ms. Adams will serve as a technical education faculty member and Dean of Academic Affairs in the Nursing Division. She will teach one class each fall, spring, and summer semester, providing leadership within SCTC’s Nursing Division. This endowed chair position, funded through the SCTC Foundation/Connie Allen Kendrick philanthropic gift, underscores the importance of developing innovative academic programs and collaborating with the allied health nursing sector to enhance workforce capabilities. Ms. Adams will play a significant role in shaping the future of nursing education at SCTC by promoting excellence in teaching and workforce development.
Ms. Adams brings a wealth of experience and a robust educational background to this position. Since joining Southern Crescent Technical College, she has served in various capacities including ASN Instructor, Program Coordinator, and Nursing Department Chair. In these roles, she has excelled in developing and maintaining course materials, advising and registering students, and collaborating with the Georgia Board of Nursing (GBON) and the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). Her dedication to the improvement and growth of our nursing programs underscores her commitment to our institution’s success and the development of our healthcare workforce.
Prior to her tenure with Southern Crescent Technical College, Ms. Adams was a Perinatal Educator at Upson Regional Medical Center, where she advanced education through state and national programs and worked closely with multidisciplinary teams. Her extensive experience as a Registered Nurse at Navicent Health Medical Center and other healthcare facilities has provided her with a comprehensive understanding of patient care across various settings, including labor and delivery, postpartum, and home health care.
Ms. Adams holds a Master of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Western Governor’s University, as well as an Associate Degree in Nursing from Gordon College. Her commitment to continuous professional development is evident through her numerous certifications and active participation in professional associations.
In her role as the Connie Allen Kendrick Endowed Chair, Ms. Adams will continue to teach one nursing class each fall, spring, and summer semester while spearheading initiatives to develop innovative academic programs within SCTC’s Nursing Division. This endowed chair position is designed to enhance the connection between allied health nursing and workforce development, ensuring that our graduates are well-equipped to meet the evolving healthcare needs of our community.
