Southern Crescent Technical College (SCTC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Eleen C. Herbert as the new Dean for Technical, Industrial, and Film Programs and the Dundee Community Association Endowed Chair in Teaching and Workforce Development for Advanced Manufacturing, effective September 1, 2024. With over 18 years of experience in content development, instructional design, and training, Eleen brings a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record of leadership and innovation to SCTC.
Eleen’s career has been marked by her dedication to enhancing educational experiences and outcomes through tailored training solutions, innovative program development, and effective leadership. Most recently, she served as a Technical Trainer and Developer at Inline Plastics Inc., where she oversaw the development and implementation of both technical and non-technical training programs. Eleen is highly skilled in managing Learning Management Systems (LMS), conducting needs assessments, and fostering collaboration across teams to align training with organizational goals.
Prior to her role at Inline Plastics, Eleen spent 16 years with Gwinnett County Public Schools as a Lead Mathematics Educator and Curriculum Chairperson. During her tenure, she led a team of 20 mathematics teachers, conducted professional development workshops, and developed e-learning modules that significantly improved student performance. Her ability to integrate technology into curriculum design and her commitment to student success have been recognized throughout her career.
Eleen holds a Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning with Technology from Ashford University and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Florida A&M University. Her diverse background in education, engineering, and leadership uniquely positions her to drive the growth and success of SCTC’s Technical, Industrial, and Film programs.
As the Dundee Community Association Endowed Chair, Eleen will also have the responsibility of teaching one class each fall, spring, and summer semester, while providing leadership within SCTC’s Industrial Technology Division. This endowed chair position is integral to advancing workforce capabilities by developing innovative academic programs and collaborating closely with the manufacturing sector to ensure that our graduates are well-prepared to meet industry demands.
