The recent beginning of Spring Semester 2023 at Southern Crescent Technical College brought with it yet another enrollment increase for the College. This 2023 Spring Semester makes the 3rd consecutive semester Southern Crescent Technical College has achieved an enrollment increase over the same semester the previous year.
The latest uptick indicates that 5,252 students are registered, marking an over 6 percent increase in total enrollment when compared with SCTC’s Spring Semester 2022 figures. Most notably, reports indicate that dual enrollment SCTC has experienced a 48% increase in enrollment from last year. By comparison, SCTC enrolled 5,015 in Fall Semester 2022.
These numbers reported are higher than the statewide average enrollment growth across the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG). The overall number across 22 TCSG colleges in the state indicates that enrollment has expanded by about 4.5% from this time last year. All numbers are courtesy of the TCSG data center.
“Typically, Fall Semester marks our largest semester for enrollment. This year, we have seen a 4.5% enrollment increase from Fall to Spring Semester, which is phenomenal. While we have been working extremely hard to support our students through to completion, our current enrollment increase is attributed to several factors including a strong commitment to serving students by faculty and staff and the expansion of facilities, services, and programs,” according to Vice President of Student Affairs, Dr. Xenia Johns.
Boosting enrollment has been a goal for Southern Crescent Technical College President Dr. Irvin Clark, who has worked diligently across all divisions of the College to increase enrollment since he came on board last year.
Clark commented, “In the past year, we have been laser-focused on new initiatives at Southern Crescent Technical College in the attempt to move the needle in a few key areas. I am thrilled to report that our efforts have had positive results with an increased enrollment.
This growth in enrollment shows that more and more people realize the value of a technical education to obtain a great career and outstanding collegiate experience. Our mission at Southern Crescent Technical College is workforce development and it is evident that we are responding to the needs of our community. When the numerous career options available in our region for graduates with the skills offered by SCTC are coupled with the low cost of attendance, there is no doubt why Southern Crescent Technical College continues to make a marked impact on this area’s workforce. It is encouraging to see more students taking advantage of the
tremendous opportunities afforded to them. Additionally, with a stellar job placement rate and the demand for SCTC graduates far exceeding supply, we are extremely optimistic that this enrollment growth will continue.”
Answering the call of area citizens and local business and industry, Southern Crescent Technical College has recently expanded our offerings in high-demand career areas. With the addition of new programs and specialized initiatives designed to meet the unique needs of students in this area, SCTC is poised to continue this trajectory of growth through upcoming terms.
