Southern Crescent Technical College (SCTC) is thrilled to announce the approval of the highly anticipated LPN/Paramedic to RN bridge program by the Georgia Board of Nursing. This groundbreaking initiative, slated to commence in the upcoming academic year, marks a significant milestone in expanding educational opportunities for licensed practical nurses and licensed paramedics across the state.
SCTC President Dr. Irvin Clark stated, “ This program will bring great benefits to our students, community, and healthcare partners in this region. Our graduates working in the healthcare field have been asking for this for quite some time and I am thrilled to be able to provide them with this exciting opportunity. Through this bridge program we will continue to nurture and inspire a new generation of healthcare professionals with diverse experiences and knowledge. These students will receive exceptional training, equipping them to address the evolving challenges of healthcare with confidence and competence.”
The LPN/Paramedic to RN bridge program is designed to accommodate professionals with at least one year of field experience. It offers a streamlined path for these dedicated healthcare practitioners to elevate their careers by becoming registered nurses. The program consists of three semesters, enabling participants to complete their RN education in just one year.
To ensure accessibility for all interested students, SCTC will offer two cohorts at different campuses. The Griffin Campus will host Friday classes for one cohort, while the Fayette Center will provide Saturday classes for another. The college plans to accept 25 students in each cohort, facilitating personalized attention and a conducive learning environment.
Program applications will be accepted from November 27th to December 15th, giving aspiring RNs a limited window to secure their spot in this transformative program. Applicants will receive acceptance decisions via their SCTC student email on December 18th. A mandatory program orientation for the newly accepted cohorts is scheduled for December 21st.
To be eligible for admission, prospective students must meet specific criteria. They must be currently enrolled SCTC students, have successfully completed the required pre-requisite general education courses, obtained a score of 70 or higher on the HESI A2 exam, and provide proof of licensure for at least one year as an LPN or Paramedic.
Vice President of Academic Affairs at SCTC, Kimberly Register, expressed her excitement about this achievement, stating, “The approval of the LPN/Paramedic to RN bridge program is the culmination of a long-awaited journey to build a crucial educational bridge for our students. We are committed to fostering the growth and development of healthcare professionals in our region, and this program is a testament to that commitment. It opens doors to career advancement and enhances the quality of healthcare services in our community.”
