Dr. Irvin Clark, President, Southern Crescent Technical College, is pleased to announce the recent appointment of George Crews and Lisa Johnson as members of the college’s board of directors. Both Crews and Johnson were sworn in by Spalding County Probate Judge Jan Hunt at a recent meeting.

“I am pleased to welcome these two outstanding individuals to the Southern Crescent Technical College board of directors,” SCTC President Dr. Irvin Clark stated.   “As members of several civic and charitable organizations, as well as their affiliations with some of our key community and workforce development partners, they both demonstrate strong leadership capabilities and exceptional community involvement. I’m certain their knowledge will be invaluable as we move forward in executing our vision for the college,” Dr. Clark concluded.

The Southern Crescent Technical College Board of Directors serves both in a community advisory capacity and in a limited administrative capacity, performing certain oversight responsibilities as designated by State Board policy. The local Board is comprised of members from the business and industrial communities from nine counties in the service area comprised of Butts, Fayette, Henry, Jasper, Lamar, Pike, Spalding, and Upson counties. State Board Policy defines the role and responsibilities of the local Board. Board members are selected because of their experience, ability, and dedication to deal with issues that relate to the mission of occupational education and are without contractual, employment, or personal financial investment in the school.

Crews will represent Henry County on the board and is currently employed as an Area Manager within the Metro South region of Georgia Power, where he is responsible for leading and guiding external partnerships and strategies. He provides leadership and support for power delivery, customer service, sales and community and economic development efforts in the region. Representing Spalding County on the board, Johnson serves as Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer for Wellstar Spalding Regional.  In this role, she has executive financial and operational responsibility for Nursing Services including quality and accreditation processes for two Acute Care hospitals within the Wellstar Health system, including multiple outpatient Rehabilitative Centers and Wound Centers.  In addition, both are strong community supporters and continue to serve in various leadership and civic roles.
